I am really sorry, I thought today’s Wednesday, but it's Thursday. 24 hours emergency ward shift made me forget days on weekdays. I have been receiving many messages from you guys, my dearest readers of the blog. Since I am turning some directions about my blog, you might notice that beside style/fashion, I also posted mostly about books, music and other things like poetry writings. Not only on blog, you may notice on my other social platform, too. And your kind words on my blog, emails also personal messages really made my days.

If I have to decide what kind of blog this is, then I might say this is a random blog about things that I like or in Indonesian it would be called as "blog suka-suka aku". So from now on, this blog will be filled with everything that I like and love. As I promised in my previous post, I am going to write a detailed book review of my own. I have been reading a lot lately, you might found some glimpse of books appeared on some of my previous posts (oh, don't worry if you haven't because you can find them under my BOOK section). But never did I write a proper review about them. I posted some books on my instagram too and some gave me messages saying they are looking forward for some reviews also book recommendations from me. I might say that I am quite surprised of being noticed (I must say as a book nerd it's kind of surprising) yet I am happy also that other people have enthusiasm in reading. So, after months thinking what book I should write first also practicing my skill on writing a book review that is worth to share, finally and proudly I present to you my book review under the name #BEDAHBUKU on my blog. And the first book that I would like to review is a book which I have just recently finished, Quiet by Susan Cain.

Rating:

Talking about human personality never comes to an end. Human beings are unique and each characteristic has their own strength and weakness. As you can see in the title, this book is about introverts and it explains a lot about the differences of introverts and extroverts and how society perceives each kind of categories. I read this book for the same reason most people read this book: I am an introvert. I have always been an introvert, it is fundamental and sometimes limiting part of who I am. If you are interested to know whether you are an introvert or an extrovert or perhaps you already recognized which type you are and want to know more about it (especially if you type yourself as an introvert), then this book is definitely your kind of book. I finished this book in a week and I really enjoyed it so much. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

There are some kind of perceptions in our society that mixed up introversion with shyness, fear of people or having lack of social skills and extroversion as people who are outgoing, gregarious, talk-active  and sociable. But they are both two whole different things. Introverts may have strong social skills, enjoy parties, social meetings but after awhile they need to spend time by their own, devote their energies to close friends, colleges and families. Some also mixed the concept that extroverts are born leaders because they are capable in talking, public speaking and persuasion. But, there is zero correlation between being the best talker and having the best ideas. Cain explained more about the struggle of being an introvert in this kind of world and how introverts can gain success in their own kind of way. This book really gives me new insight about how introverts and extroverts think, work and lead which makes me believe that each has their own kind of way of living. This book is detailed with studies, researches and examples of famous people from leaders, politicians, writers, etc.

Beside comparing between introvert and extrovert personalities, working styles, leading styles and way each interacts, in the later chapter Cain explained more about the power of being Quiet, the power that introversion type of people have, when to be more extrovert at work, relationship or other social situations also about public speaking for introverts. In my recent post "WALLFLOWER" I talked about the need of public speaking to succeed in our careers and I bumped on this book that explain how to do that kind of stuff. Perhaps that's one reason I really enjoyed reading this book. I found many new understanding about why and how myself work as an introvert (it explained why I am more comfortable in writing rather than speaking, as it is the way most introverts work hehe). I believe that having the type of personality is not an excuse you can't do certain things, but when we know what type we are, it can help us to learn and develop. Figure out what we are meant to contribute and make sure we contribute it. If this requires public speaking or networking or other activities that might make you feel uncomfortable in some way, do them anyway. But, accept that they are difficult, get the training you need to make them easier and reward yourself when you are done. I really learn a lot from this book.

The version of the book I read is in English. It was translated into other languages include Bahasa Indonesia. As a non-fictional book, I think this book is quite easy to read, besides there are some parts that I found difficult to understand though. This book might be more enjoyed by people who are introverts. But, if you are more an extrovert and want to learn more about the power of introversion, the power of silence and quietness, you may read this book as well. The secret of life is to put yourself in the right lighting. For some, it's a Broadway spotlight, for others, a lamplit desk.
Everyone shines given a right light.
If book is not your cup of tea, don't worry. I am not pushing anyone to be a book lover since everybody has their own choice of stress-reliever, unfortunately books have become my reliever all this time. Beside books, I made three other titles for my category posts which are #FASHIONFILE, #MUSIKMINGGU and #PUISI. For #FASHIONFILE it is of course about fashion, style inspiration (mostly vintage inspiration because I love vintage fashion so much), style tips, trends and shopping recommendations. If you are keen of music, especially vintage/indie music then you must enjoy #MUSIKMINGGU, my music review writings on blog. "Musik" as for music and "Minggu" for Sunday in Bahasa. So, I will post about Music on Sunday. I am not promising to post about music every Sunday, but I'll update my blog at least 1-2 times a month with some music reviews on Sundays. Last but not least, I will write random poems and artsy writing both in Bahasa and English under #PUISI title if I am in the mood to make some. #PUISI is my newest category anyway, I hope you enjoy some of my random poems.

Well, let me say my greatest appreciation once again for you who are still here reading this blog. Thank you so much. I hope you find joy in every letters and catch some feelings after reading this blog. And if you find my writings are kind of beneficial, I hope you know that without you this blog is nothing. You are one of the reason I keep writing. So, thank you.
