Where are you from?
A — I am from Bali, Indonesia. I grew up in New South Wales, Australia and moved back to my home town in 1999 which is where I truly belong.
What languages do you speak?
A — My mother language is Bahasa Indonesia. I can speak Balinese and I am fluent in English, too.
How did you first started as a blogger?
A — I started DEARLY DIAS in 2019 after a long process of adapting and adjusting to find my own niche and personal style.
How would you describe your blog?
A — This is my personal website where I write mostly about fashion and personal style. I would like to make this blog as a fashion journal or like a fashion scrapbook that contains information about how I style myself, vintage shopping guide and tips, mix matching outfit ideas or some thoughts about recent trends.
What do you do beside blogging?
A — I am a full time general practitioner.
Walk us through a typical day in your life:
A — On regular working days as a general practitioner, I wake up around 6am. I do some checking for my schedules and emails also do my planning for the upcoming days. Then I go to my office and work until 4pm. When I am not working in the clinic, I work at home blogging, at the shooting location or a nearby coffee shop. In my spare time, I read books and I carry one everywhere I go so I can read it on my way or while waiting. I have a really supportive boyfriend and he helps me as much as possible to shoot the content I need for the upcoming post. We also love to explore new things together like going for adventures, trying new place to eat, see friends, watching sunsets and relax when the timing is right.
Now, tell us about your style:
A — I describe my style as vintage-modern, feminine and romantic. Neutral tones, white, pink, beige, brown and black are the typical colors I usually wear. I love wearing dress, lace, ruffle, flower prints and because I am living in a tropical island I wear summer/resort dresses, rattan bag, sandals and overflowing outfits a lot.
What is your daily go-to uniform?
A — It really depends on my schedule. When I am working in the clinic I wear formal outfits like a shirt with skirt/trouser and shoes. When I am working at home, I wear my comfortable pjamas. If I have to go out I usually go for a plain white top with jeans/skirt or if I am the mood I put on a beautiful dress.
You said you love reading, any book recommendations from you?
A — I've received some questions related to books I've read and about my book recommendation. It really depends on one's preferences and what one wants to read at the time. I usually read non-fiction books like The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, books related to medicine topics like The Gene by Siddharta Mukherjee and some self-help/motivational books. I love to read fiction, too, like classics from Jane Austen, Harper Lee, Fitzgerald and many more. And now I am currently reading books from Harumi Murakami, Paulo Coelho and Eka Kurniawan.
What type of camera do you use to shoot your content with?
A — I am using Nikon D7000 and my boyfriend take pictures using his Canon 5D Mark III.
How do you edit your pictures?
A — I edit my pictures using VSCO and Lightroom. There is no secret formula but I try to make my feeds harmonious. I like my pictures to be bright, sharp, clear with vintage beige or some pastel tones.
Any words to live by:
A — Have courage and be kind. I've been hesitating a lot, I am not bold and brave and that is not a good trait to have. And as I grow, it is much easier to be well-intentioned, honest, tolerant and open minded.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A — I am planning to keep doing what I love the most, working and helping others also keep writing and blogging. Since the whole concept of living is about always changing, I am wishing I am changing into becoming better and better in the next 10 years from now. I hope I already finish my next study, being financially secure to travel, have children and dogs together with my boyfriend to be husband then keep filling my life with great memories with the people I love, my family and friends.
Those above are most frequently asked questions about my blog, my work and my personal life. Everything about writing and blogging fascinates me. It is stimulating to write a well-written content on your personal website, I really enjoy this kind of pleasure tests and tasks of blogging. Back then I had those busy years on my previous blog where I started to write sponsored blog posts, challenged to write as many posts as I could every week. Until then I had many month-long blogging breaks. So, now I come back trying to write my blog again after a long pause. What I love the most is seeing those who pursue a life of personal expression. People who make creative contents from their point of view, they who work with full of passion, they who are not afraid of being them selves and dearly to show it to the world. To write a blog, it really takes more time and sometime it could be frustrating. It usually comes in longer paragraphs and more detailed chronology. It is more structured, organized and drawn-out. It helps me to get more thorough understanding to an idea I am trying to write about. With so many other social media platforms, there is nothing wrong with using multi social media accounts to stay connected. I am on Twitter to read recent updates about the whole wide world (also for memes and jokes, twitter is hilarious!), I am on Instagram but not really interested into the insta-life-updating scene that much and I am on Youtube, too, as a loyal viewers of some favorite channels I am subscribing into (I never try making videos actually, because I don't think it will suit me, I am really awkward when it comes to talking in front of the camera, in front of people as well). Blogging is still the platform that fit my idea of proper sharing method. Between all of the speed-of-light connection of our digital community we are living now, where sharing is never enough and it becomes kind of repetitive, slowing down sounds as an option. How things come and go in life that fast in this eras where all information spread as quickly as a bullet, blog has become, has always been, my favorite place.
...
I have just started these little baby walks again. And I am going to enjoy every milestone from now on. I will take this as a letter I wrote to myself, when I am tired and thinking about stopping, so I remember the reason I started to blog: being unapologetically me and being dearly to express your genuine self to the world. And take this as a letter to many bloggers out there also, who inspired me to keep blogging and for many blogs out there which I keep reading as my daily dose of muse, creativity and insightful perspective. I wish I could return the favor of inventiveness in my own kind of way through this blog of mine. If you are a fellow blogger or just a blog reader, please leave me a comment (and your blog address if you have one) so we can start visiting each other and exchange contents, not for the sake of exposure but for real bonding between human beings. Last but not least, I would like to say my appreciation for you who still read this blog until today. Thank you so much. And for those who are struggling in writing a blog too, or whatever things you are currently working on,
I hope you never give up on what you are passionate about.
