LIST OF MY FAVORITE ONLINE BOOKSTORES IN INDONESIA:

FOR NEW BOOKS:
@chandradyani: Kak Chandradnyani has been so kind to provide me books I've asked for this whole quarantine. She also sent me book gifts and I am so delightful to receive them. If you are looking for new imported books or pre-order rare imported books in the market, go to her Instagram profile and reach her through WA/LINE. Be patient and your book will come right to your door.
@books_mira: if you live around Denpasar and Badung area, Kak Mira can help you to buy books from Periplus. Last week I was looking for a book but hesitating to shop because I can't find any Periplus shop nearby and I am aware of going out to public places in this current situation of the pandemic. Sad to hear that many stores closed down because not many people buying imported books nowdays. So, I contact her through her Instagram profile asking for the particular book and then she send it directly to my home the next day. You do not have to worry about your Periplus membership points because she will add it to your account straight away. Very helpful, thank you, Kak Mira!
@post_santa: I haven't bought any books from them yet, but some of friends have. It's a local independent bookshop and publisher in Santa Market, Jakarta. When I see their Instagram page, the books look unique and one of a kind. I still have many books left unread on my shelf, I promise to have a try to buy from them in the next upcoming months *pinky promise*.
Buah Buku: For Indonesian books readers, do not worry. If English books/imported books are not your cup of tea (or let's say type of coffee? Because the title of the post is about books and coffee?) I have some recommendations where to buy Indonesian books online. You can buy it directly from Gramedia or Togamas website, but if you prefer e-commerce application (which I prefer Shopee), then have a visit to Buah Buku on Shopee. I guess the price is cheaper than it is in offline stores and they have free delivery for the books you purchased.

FOR SOME OLD BOOKS HUNTING:
@kalei.delic: this is an online bookstore based in Jakarta that provides many pre-loved books with very good prices range between 30.000-100.000 Rupiah. The thing with pre-loved bookstores is that we have to be fast especially if it is a best-seller book, very old, very rare or a book published in several years.
@jajansastra: another online secondhand bookstore on Instagram. I guess their collections are more of non-fiction, philosophical, books or fictions from Haruki Murakami. But I am always too late to get books I wanted in their shop. Most of them are already sold, so sad.
@birdfish.preloved.books: based in Jakarta, this online bookstore provide us with pre-loved imported books in very good condition. The books here are relatively new, not as vintage as the other 2 pre-loved stores above. And the prices, too, not as cheap as compared to the other two. But trust me, it is cheaper than a new book in the offline store.
Many great places to explore in Ubud, but nothing can beat Ubud for its place for good books and great coffee. I used to discover Ubud's coffee delights and bookshops with my med-school friends in our early semester of university. We found this small charity shop called Smile Shop just across our favorite coffee place, Seniman Coffee Ubud. It sells donations from used clothes, books, home utilities, CDs, DVDs, toys and other unique gems. Created by Yayasan Senyum (Smile Foundation of Bali), all sales from the donated items will be used to help children with craniofacial disabilities. This little shop sparks me in 2 different ways: first, I like the idea of pre-loved shops, it aligns with my sustainable value, and secondly the charity for the children in need, I like this shop even more. The best section of this shop for me is its bookshelves. I can say I am a kind of an avid reader. I like to collect books and I prefer paper books to digital ones. I just like the feeling of reading, touching and carrying a physical book. Buying secondhand can be a great alternative to save money, because, yes, some books can be quite expensive. One of the book I've purchased from this shop is The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma for only 5000 Rupiah, what a deal! And there is something about old used books that just fascinate me. The history, the notes written from the previous owner, the yellow-colored paper it turned to or the unique old book smell. Thinking about what this book has gone through, how many people have read it, how many lives it touched; that’s the beauty of an old used book.
...
I added BOOKS section on this blog for book-related post like this one and for that one day if I have the mood to write about some books I have read. I am thinking about writing some book reviews on blog, but in the same time I am also thinking that I am too lazy to keep the hard work of book reviewing. I am not going to turn this blog to a pure book blog, it's still a blog of this-and-that and I am okay with it. I am okay with my blog not having a niche. As long as it is close to the value I am holding on to, I'll go for it. If you are interested about the list of book I have read, I am currently reading and I want to read, you can always visit my Goodreads account here. See you in another old-pictures-but-new-writings-post. And for all book-lovers out there, I hope you enjoy the book you are currently reading at the moment.
xx
