GLOW GETTER

"Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns,
it calls me on and on across the universe..." - Across the Universe, The Beatles |
Ambition,
determination along with a kind heart. To be bold, courageous and have attitude those are what I aspire to be. I may say I am a glow-getter, I love that word. A driven, busy girl who strives to achieve her goals in life. One who keep herself busy doing things she likes. I love my
work and I love working even how stressful a day in a hospital could be. I
believe when people do something they are passionate about and go all-out for with
all of their heart, they glow inside and
out. Look into the eyes of someone who is talking avidly about their job, their
project, their favorite subject, even how trivial, their eyes
shine. But, to be honest, I think I am not that
brave.
…
"What would you do if
you weren't afraid?" That question from a book I've read, Lean in: Women, Work,
and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg occupies my mind. It's a terrific question, for it is fear that often stands in the way of
harmonizing our values with our actions. If I weren't afraid of being too
aggressive at work, would I be confident to tell about my ideas and point of
views? If I weren't sorry of being weird or make people feel uncomfortable,
would I valiantly be who I truly are? If I weren't cared of being wrong, would
I answer all questions courageously? If I weren't anxious of what people think
about my body, would I love my imperfections wholeheartedly? If I weren't
troubled of being exhausted, would I take multiple jobs at one time? If I weren't
terrified of failure, would I give myself another shot to chase my dreams daringly? Life is full of big decisions to make and fear is one of the basic things to keep everything under our control. Fear is in our blood, it's the adrenaline that keep us
fighting or fleeing. The biggest fear I am currently facing is, if I weren't afraid, would I say yes and be a wife and
mother while keeping on working and make tremendous career that I've been dreaming all this time? Anyone lucky enough to have options should keep them
open. Don't enter workforce already looking for the exit. Don't put on the
brakes. Accelerate. Keep a foot on the gas pedal until a decision must be made.
That's the only way to ensure that when that day comes, there will be a real
decision to make.
