"To be a Flower, is profound
Responsibility" —
Emily Dickinson
As new a parent, for my two year-old daughter, I realize one thing I want her to be as she grows. To be resilient. Before, I wish her to always be happy and I'll try my best to make her always be that happy kid. But then, I realize she also needs to understand that life is not always sparkling and beaming with joy. Sometimes, there are sadness and sorrows, also other feelings that might make her feel bad about herself. But no wonder what life might bring, I wanted her to be able to be happy and strong again after something difficult. And as a flower emerges not as a pretty object to be adored, but as a ravishing system of aliveness, a kind reminder of interconnected resilience, live a life full of wonder, my dear. You'll bloom to be a very beautiful flower.
